In 1988 we partnered with Canadian Pacific Railway to operate a
truck to rail reload facility in Kamloops, BC as part of their
plan to provide substitute service to forest companies on their
Princeton Sub spur line. Originally established for only
truck to rail services, this operation has expanded into
providing a wide range of value added services including:
package cutting, custom trimming, bar-coding, package splitting
and grading. Using the Kamloops operation as a template, Arrow
has worked with Canadian Pacific Railway to establish new
reloads across Canada and into the United States.
We feel confident in saying that the reloads we operate are considered the best in the industry. Our focus on quality, service and competitiveness helps to ensure that forest products get to the customer on a timely, cost effective basis and that package quality is guaranteed when it leaves the reload yard.
Specific quality processes that are applied to our reload
centers include visual check sheets that contain a summary of
quality and process information to ensure packages are white,
bright and damage free. Also, detailed inspection processes are
in place to ensure that all value added services are performed
at or above expectations and end receivers get their packages in
the condition they hope for.
Our reloads have been at the forefront of innovation through the
use of employee work teams, quality processes involving
customers and suppliers, and leading edge measurement systems.
We have innovated in the area of business process redesign,
equipment development and information technology. Because of our
broad range of experience in handling many products by truck and
rail, we have been able to expand our reloads from only handling
lumber products to handling such products as mining materials,
steel rods and granite blocks. For a quick overview of our
reload service, check out the Reload
Systems Video.
